Clear Daily Briefing welcomes considered proposals about rural customs, gatherings, language, folklore and shared memory. We look for a specific subject, a clear reader question and an approach that respects differences between places and people.
What makes a good pitch
Send a short summary of the proposed piece, why it is worth exploring, its likely shape and the material or perspective you would use to develop it. A strong pitch has a focused subject rather than a sweeping claim about rural life. It distinguishes what can be established from personal interpretation, avoids speaking for a whole community, and gives readers something useful to understand or notice.
How to send it
Send proposals through the Contact page and choose the editorial question option. Please include your name and a way to reply. A pitch is a proposal, not a promise of publication; do not send confidential material or assume a draft has been commissioned unless that has been agreed.
Tradition is a living thing
Customs change as people carry them forward. We look at what they mean, where their details come from and how a place makes them its own.
